About the Role

A fantastic opportunity has arisen for an Associate Solicitor (Legal Counsel ) to provide legal advice and support for this rapidly-growing UK subsidiary of Lockheed Martin.

The Legal Counsel will provide legal guidance on contracts, procurement and employment law matters. The successful candidate will also be required to provide advice and strategic guidance to Senior and Executive Leadership on a range of matters including internal policies and practices to ensure compliance with local laws.

Required skills, qualifications and experience

Required Skills:

1.Must be a fully qualified UK solicitor with experience in providing in-house legal advice, in the areas described in the job description, to business co-workers and leaders.

2.Experience in advising on English law issues and compliance, either in a law firm, or preferably as in-house legal adviser for a corporation.

3.Demonstrate, successful track record and performance at increased levels of responsibility.

4. Leadership, management, organisational and team building skills. Strong effective relationship builder

5.Dedication to high quality work product, seeks out opportunities for continued development and a self starter.

6.Ability to collaborate and partner with legal colleagues both within Corporate, enterprise-wide and externally. .

7. The confidence and personal authority to deal at senior level internally within LM and
externally to clients, partners, prospects, government departments and across industry.

8. Enthusiasm, energy and drive; fosters an inclusive culture and motivating
environment for the team

9. Ability to effectively analyse facts and circumstances to provide solid legal advice to mitigate the risk of external claims and provides practical solutions (problem-solving orientation).

10.Demonstrates exceptional verbal and written communication skills (internal clients and external stakeholders).

11.Demonstrates ability to work independently and influence outcomes to deliver favourable results.

12.Demonstrates discretion, sound judgment and integrity; viewed as trusted advisor and colleague. Models personal excellence, behaviours and accountability.

13.Proven understanding of cross-cultural nuances and implications; overseas experience, either living or studying abroad preferred.

14.Must be eligible to be employed in the UK and qualify for Baseline Personnel Security Standard.

15. Would have experience of:
working in a professional or legal environment or within the defence or aerospace industry;
UK MoD and Commercial contracting; and
Intellectual Property.
