Commercial Gas Engineer (Training into Management and Renewables)

Woking

£40,000 - £45,000 + Overtime Bonuses + Discounted Renting + Pension + Holidays

Are you a qualified and experienced Commercial Gas Engineer that is looking to take half a step off the tools and start moving into management, all the while being able to widen your technical skillset and knowledge to cover specialist Renewable Energy and Sustainable Heating plant such as Solar, Heat Pumps and CHP?

This company has a significant presence in the local area and is responsible for delivering key utilities to domestic/residential and commercial premises, namely through several Combined Heat-Power plants. They have recently established their 2nd key site in the Woking area and have plans to develop and supply energy to over 1000 new properties in the area over the next 7 years.

In this role you will be stepping up into a supervisor-level position to lead a team of Maintenance Engineers and take a lead on operations and maintenance activities on-site. This will involve tasks such as assisting in budget preparation, coordinating and monitoring internal and external staff resources, checking and approving RAMS and maintaining an accurate energy asset register.

The ideal candidate will have hold Commercial Gas tickets and will have practical experience in carrying out maintenance on commercial-scale gas heating appliances. They will also have other maintenance experience covering things such as gas engines, CHP systems, diesel generators, chilled water plant etc.

The role:
* Responsible for a small team of mechanical & electrical engineers (resource allocation, assigning work, supervising)
* Leading from the front by engaging in hands-on maintenance work 50% of the time
* Ensuring maximum availability of plant through planned & unplanned maintenance, breakdown response, servicing
* Supporting projects such as plant replacements, new customer connections, network extensions etc.
* Reviewing, appointing, monitoring and managing specialist suppliers and contractors
* Assisting engineering manager with preparation of operational budgets
* Receiving and approving RAMS
* Periodic reviews of contingency plans and service resilience plans

The person:
* Commercial Gas tickets
* Relevant mechanical qualifications to City & Guilds/NVQ Standard or similar
* Maintenance experience covering at least boilers, ideally generators and engines too
* Experience with Combined Heat Power (CHP) maintenance is highly advantageous
* Previous experience in a supervisor or manager level position is highly advantageous
* IOSH Working Safely or trained on safe working practices
* ACoP L8 Legionella Aware (desirable)
